How to force a user to register?

Good afternoon! The question arose
- how to keep the user and make sure that he finally fills out the coveted form and registers ? What are the methods of "professionals"? Because it happens like this: a person enters the site, then he enters, but he receives the information he needs and immediately runs from the resource. What is required for it to register? I tried the pop-up window, but they say that it is only annoying, eventually removed it. Restrict user? So they can leave without thinking. I got several options:

  1. Register via social networks (one-click entry)
  2. Register only by email, and send the password to the mail and there already deal with the login and the rest
  3. As soon as a person has performed some action, again show a pop-up window, or even redirect to registration

I understand that there are no universal ways, but direct me to the true path. There must be methods that increase the number of registrants. Are there special "rules" leading to success?

When forced to register on some site, I register, and write curses to the developers in all fields of the registration form (even in the password)
And in order to act not with a stick, but with a carrot, you can, for example, add achievements to registered users

In general, this is not necessary. No need to worry so much about the fact that the user has not registered.
Many sites allow you to go through the entire cycle of actions without registration and nothing. This is a normal situation.
So first of all, you should ask yourself the question, why is this needed?
For example, registration will allow the user to receive a permanent 3% discount. Draw a small banner, draw attention, tell users about this bonus. No one will register just like that. After all, you need real good registrations, and not junk disposable ones?

Everything is much simpler - post-registration: let me fill in the fields (and save in the session after the submission), then ask to register: hardly anyone can refuse - he has already worked so much)

What do I do when a site asks me to register in order to download a file or finish reading the material I need? First of all, I look elsewhere and, most often, I find it.
When will the unfortunate site owners realize that there are users who came for some specific material and even registration will not return them later?

If the goal in itself is more registrations, then it is enough to give the opportunity to leave messages only to registered ones and remove the captcha. Good Chinese bots will do the rest.
Unless, of course, your site is generally known to someone and is listed in directories.

If there is nothing useful on the site, you need to come up with it, for example, bonuses. If you want to get 200 bonuses - enter your email. And then "You have been credited with bonuses, to activate them, confirm the mail." And spend bonuses on changing avatars, raising the rating of articles, applying a trendy background to your profile, etc.
