How to fix unrecognized option '--firstuid' error?

Hello. I started to get interested in virtual servers in order to create my own mini hosting for myself and for some clients. I started by studying the article on Habré . Article 2013, because. I didn't find it, maybe I didn't search well.
There was a problem at the point of creating a user using "adduser". As soon as I enter the command:

adduser --home /var/www/42/home/marvin --no-create-home --shell /bin/false --firstuid 901 --lastuid 999 --ingroup www-data marvin

I get an error:
adduser: unrecognized option '--firstuid'
At the office. The ubuntu website found an article about adduser, there is a --firstuid parameter, but unfortunately I did not find an answer why this error occurs.

I would be glad if you tell me what the problem is or tell me which way to dig.
I have never worked with servers before, but for one of my projects, regular hosting is unfortunately not enough. I will also be grateful if you throw off the extra. related materials.
Thank you.

@Drno

If you need virtualization - install Qemu KVM
If there are enough containers - LXD
CentOs and ubuntu may have different parameters, these are 2 different OS (dramatically different)
