How to fix display issue in Putty + Ubuntu 14.04?

Actually here's the problem:
a0d1938a2b484f92bc85c747e0006362.png
I enter the hosting with windows 7 through Putty.
On another server a year and a half ago there was such a problem, but somehow I solved it. I remember that it was a problem related to the Cyrillic alphabet. And what exactly - I do not remember.
Did:
sudo apt-get install console-cyrillic, sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-cyrillic,sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup

If anyone is interested, then the problem is in the locale:
sudo update-locale LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8

@zooks

Try specifying the encoding in Putty:

Remote charset set: UTF-8
