How to fix a problem with synaptic starting?

Synaptic does not start from a shortcut, nor does the standard package manager. When I try to start it asks for a password, I enter it, the window disappears and nothing happens. When trying to run via the console with the "sudo synaptic" command, it writes an error:
No protocol specified
Unable to init server: Could not connect to: Connection refused
(synaptic: 5089): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: : 0
