How to find out how much memory a process is consuming?

Hello everyone
You need to use the script to find out how much memory the specified (process name is supplied to the script) process consumes (necessary for monitoring). There is an option to parse the /proc/***/status file, but I don't really like it. Please, is there any other way to get this information?
