How to filter data in Osm2pgsql?

I am importing an .osm file into the database via Osm2pgsql, but there is too much extra data in the source file.
How can I exclude adding streets and roads to the database? It seems to be possible to filter through the included LUA script, but so far I can’t find a normal example
