How to extract individual images from a scan?

There is a scan containing 6-8 (in different cases) images.
How to save individual images in separate files? Maybe there is a plugin for GIMP, or is there some special application?

Even in Paint there is: you select with pens and save the selection to a file, in Gimp you may have to create a new file. And do not rely on all sorts of plug-ins if up to 100 images then handles faster.
