How to export MS SQL database?

There is a VDS 40 Gb HDD, on which the database occupies 20 Gb.
How can I export it to my local machine, given that on the very server with the database less than 5 Gb is free? The option with a temporary dump on the server is excluded for this reason

Connect to a remote server and dump locally

First, check the available space in the database itself. If there is a lot of it, compress it with file reorganization.
If it was not possible to reduce the base, then detach it, copy the files to yourself and attach.

You can make a backup with compression (MS SQL itself will compress on the fly).
