How to explain it, is it ddos?

Lately the server has been crashing a lot. I go in, and there is an error, like can not fount /var/msql/sock or something like that. I go into the digitalocean office and there the graph reports that in the last 11 minutes of its life the CPU was overloaded, it worked more than 100%. Is it ddos? This is possible, since I have one website of a well-known company in my city on my server. And there are dozens of others. If it's ddos, how do you know which site is the problem?
