How to estimate the cost of integrating a site (self-written engine) with CMS Wordpress (for content)

Hello!
Curious to know if anyone has had experience integrating VP with an existing PHP site?
We would like to use the capabilities of VP and its plugins for content, while maintaining the age of the domain and many pages created before on a self-written engine. How labor-intensive and bug-generating is it to integrate a VI with another CMS?
I would not want to transfer the entire site to the VP due to the security and stability issues of the free engine. I want to use it only to work with new site content.
It will be interesting to hear about your experience.

1. WP takes about 20% of the market. His centurion hackers around the world are trying to break 1000 times a minute. Are you sure that regular php scripts are better protected than this engine?
2. It can be broken if not hygienic. But breaking the usual set of php files in this case is easier.
3. On the experience met both decisions. Somewhere WP was added as a blog and that's it. And somewhere they launched a project of transferring content from the old engine to WP with saving the URL so as not to lose traffic.
Clause 3 depends only on the situation. You need to study it, weigh the pros and cons and make a decision.
The main thing to understand is that rumors about WP security are rumors. The reality is that this engine is used by the largest portals and well-known brands, incl. sites on the topic of information security, which are primarily attacked by hackers. I know at least 2 well-known information security sites in the Russian Federation that use WP.
Well, in terms of stability and load it is even easier. jquery, techcrunch, w3bsit3-dns.com, with a huge load, use WP and think, would these guys use a weak engine for their sites?

There was such an experience, the CMS was written in Yii, so the complexity of the link structure was not particularly shining. As a result, the complete integration of everything and everything took about two months of relatively unhurried work (after the first month, there were already regrets in the choice of WP, now we are rewriting everything to symfony because after 3 years it is simply sad to support this piece of feces),
In general, everything is purely individual. Do a little research, spend a day or two and answer your question, because it all depends on what you need to do. Just integration is not that hard.
There is another interesting topic - to leave part of the functionality in a self-written engine, and take part from WP. In particular, you can then take content from WP and it will be in the form of an admin panel, and the client part will display everything in its own way. In my opinion, this is a more flexible approach.

You can integrate. There will simply be two admins (from the VP and from the old site). And the VI can be moved to a separate route (and a separate folder in the root of the site) and not worry about routing. I had this experience and didn't have any problems.

You can use part of the WordPress functionality in an existing site by connecting it manually. For example, something like this pastebin.com/sWSDnA5d

@Quber

Just create a folder at the root with a site like /blog/
Fill in the Wordpress engine there and install it according to the instructions. In 1 day, it’s really possible to do with the transfer of the self-writing template to the WordPress template. Everything. Almost no costs.
