This is configured in the properties of a particular connection. Or edit the source code so that it is always like this. We did just that, plus it turned out that there is a complete horror going on in switching layouts, but it seems to have led to a working view, and individual bugs have been documented, and workarounds have been found.
Versions 1.0.9.6.1, 1.2.0.5 used. Now the versions are newer, I don’t know what has changed there and how.
Users need to set up and save a .vnc file with connection parameters, this should be enough.
