How to edit the contents of a smart object in the same context?

When I go to "Edit Content" of the context menu of the Layers window, the image opens in a new tab, because of this it is impossible to navigate by what is in the background. Is it possible to somehow make the display of everything that is behind the edited object?
For example, the Smart Object has several attachments with filters (the inner Smart Object blurs for the lens focus effect, and the outer one adds noise. So, to change the blur, I need to open the inner Smart Object in another tab. Can I edit it in the current one?

No.
Yes, you can. Just grab the Smart Object tab and drag it to the side. Position it so that you can see both the contents of the window (not the tab) of the smart object and the background of the tab of the main file. It will only be necessary to save the contents of the smart object in order to see the changes in the main file - just ctrl + s while working.
