How to download all computer data to an external device?

Hello. I have an old linux laptop and would like to try installing linux on that computer again to practice before I do it on a good laptop. Well, in order to recover data after the "experiments", you need to somehow transfer the data from the computer. Can you recommend articles or advice on what to pay special attention to? So far, I'm new to this.

Acronis True Image will allow you to make an image of the disk(s) and, if necessary, restore the system to its previous state.
