One of the options to make the show from the second slide:
If it is possible to set infinite: true, (scrolling in a circle of slides), then put the "first slide" last, and when you press the back arrow, the first slide will appear just right.
Smooth shading on the right can be done either with a gradient or a block on top of a slide with a background image pressed to the right edge of the slider.

Set the slick-list to the left margin, and to the right, as mentioned above, infinite, or set the gradient through after
