Follow the links and be aware that no one has yet written a JPG and PNG optimization in pure PHP. All that is there are PHP wrappers over third-party libraries.
You can be the first, although why reinvent the wheel out of shit and sticks, wouldn't it be better to understand the capabilities and settings of the available tools?
