How to do "auto-posting" in Symfony?

There are users on the resource, they can create templates for publications and indicate the time of publications, and after that the application itself makes publications on their behalf.
I'm thinking of making a task and hanging it on cron, which will poll the database every 5 minutes and see if there is anything to publish at the moment?
