How to distinguish 401 error from timeout in ionics on ios?

I make a request to a service that requires authorization. On Android, 401 errors are returned (everything is fine), on iOS -1. I turn off the network, again I make a request to the service. It returns -1 on Android and -1 on iOS. How can you tell a 401 from a timeout? Rejects in interceptor->responseError come the same.
