How to display on a stand-alone monitor or TV pictures that change by pressing a button?

It is necessary to make the screen (TV or monitor operating offline) alternately display two pictures (a red cross and a green tick).
The image is selected by pressing a button. There should always be one of two pictures on the screen. The main question is what needs to be connected so that it can work.
Options - system unit, etc. unsuitable.

A flash drive with two pictures is enough.

Either you need a smart tv with a browser or some kind of mini pc like rpi.
Theoretically, two static pictures on TV can be output by an arduin, but this is already art.

I’ll still offer a photo frame with remote control to the heap. Of course, if such a screen size is acceptable.

I would suggest the most deshmanic android media player. Everyone can program under the bucket, you can connect the keyboard, the main question is how to run this program automatically.

In addition to the methods already voiced:
If the TV has a video input, then you can try something like this on ESP32

On a VGA monitor, you can also, in principle, https://github.com/bitluni/ESP32Lib
