How to determine which video card is working: discrete or integrated?

It is possible that the question is quite easy and noob, but nonetheless. Just wondering, out of curiosity. I have both built-in Intel and discrete NVIDIA video cards in my laptop. I rummaged through the settings, the maximum I found was in which applications which video card to use. And what is the default graphics card. And how to determine which one of them is used at a given time? And what do they change based on? (After all, it seems to be not just stupidly “according to the list of applications”, but also depending on the load).

As far as I understand you are from Nvidia Optimus technology. In the driver control panel 'View' ->'Display GPU Activity Icon in notification area' a status icon will appear in the tray.

I personally determine the inclusion of discrete graphics by exhaust heat and cooler noise =)
In general, the “default” mode is used by default - it determines by load, in theory, and in the nVidia control panel you can choose which graph. adapter for what to use - you can set to use the built-in or discrete by default, and for specific applications, set which video card to use. Or right-click on the program - "Run with GPU -> nVidia || Built-in".
