How to detect the absence of a mail client in Angular applications when using a mailto link?

When using a mailto link, chances are it won't do anything for the user if they don't have an email client setup or if they haven't configured their webmail as their default client.
What's the best way to offer a fallback by asking the user to send you an email manually?
