How to customize the menu in LookAndFeel?

On the left is the standard menu with a dash (Windows 7), on the right is an analogue from Java after applying the code

UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());

In the version on the left, the dash does not cross the vertical bar, but in my program it does. How to fix it?
