How to customize pdoPage correctly?

I have a significant problem. We made pagination on the pages of the new project. I have not used pdoPage before, but since I had no significant alternatives, I decided to use it. I, of course, have a layout, and pagination is displayed according to my classes. When I opened the documentation - a lot of unclear.
First, there is no list of possible placeholders that the wrapper accepts. Secondly, with the processing of empty tpl, there is some minced meat. I added my tpls according to the layout and everything should work out with a bang.

Instead, as a result, instead of the pdopage_first value on the front-end, I get the string "pdopage_first". I don’t know who has their hands out of the ass - me or the developers of pdoTools - I hope I do. But firstly, I need to output instead of +first the placeholder of the current page, which is not in the documentation at all. Has anyone encountered pdoPage at such a custom level? Tell me, how can I squeeze adequate out of this stuffing?
Thank you all in advance for your replies.
... Damn, I'm going to debug myself.
Nevertheless, if anyone is interested - after ordering all the inline code into chunks, I fixed the bug with the output of %pdopage_first and %pdopage_last. But now the "first" page is displayed to me. But I need a number.
PS. I wonder who wrote pdoTools)) Probably Bezumkin tried. Put a lois if you agree.
