How to create your own server in minecraft?

Hi all. I play Minecraft on one server, I plan to create an event there using lightmatics (I transfer it from GM to the server, a template appears and I rebuild it using the extracted resources). It would seem that build yourself there and rebuild, but the problem is that I will soon have a team of workers, which is why I need a server. I don’t understand all this at all, i.e., what is “CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian”, “VDS”, “SSH”, and in general, what and where to choose “hosting”, what parameters are better to choose and etc. Already tried to find answers to my questions, but neither friends nor Google want to help ...
