How to create an SSH key in the back office?

Tell me, what is the SSH key for?
Is it created one per account or many?
It seemed to me that initialization of access by login (mail) is performed when access is distributed to other persons
. And how to create it in gitlab?
I used to use gitlab normally, but now they asked me for SSH to access the file download.

An SSH key is created on your computer, public and private, public add to gitlab. There can be several of them per account (one for each of your computers, for example). You can also interact with the git via https with login and password authorization.
