How to create an intermediate redirect page in WordPress?

I can't find a solution for a wordpress site, but the bottom line is this...
I want to do this on my site so that external links can be divided into direct (open) and links through a redirect (intermediate page, padding). The essence of the work of such external links can be seen on the VKontakte website. By clicking on an external link, the user does not get to an external resource, where the external link actually leads, but gets to an intermediate, laying page, and from it already to the site where the external link led.
How to implement such an intermediate page (padding) for external links on sites that run on WordPress? Naturally, you need to somehow separate external links into direct, open links and links that will go through a redirect, through this very gasket. And it would be a great solution if these external links in articles are controlled from the admin panel for writing articles. For example, you will need to check the admin panel when writing an article in order to activate the shim page. That is, by checking the box in the admin panel, the external link in the article turns into a closed one and will work through a redirect. Well, if you do not check this box, then the link in the article remains open, direct, and works without a redirect.
Tell me, please, how to do this on a site running on Wordpress without using plugins? Or maybe there is a simple solution to my question using some kind of plugin?
