How to create a symbolic link with an entry in the original file/folder?

The program, specifically Chrome, overwrites symbolic links with the original files, instead of updating the original links themselves. What should be done to update the originals through the link?
Symbolic links are created on a RAM Disk other than the local disk with the original files.
