How to create a design for an android application?

New to Android. Interested in the process of creating a design for the application, namely, so to speak, its design. I looked through the Internet ... As I understand it, you first need to create an interface in Photoshop, and then make up (if I may say so) the design of the application already in android studio? If so, what free (or not) courses for beginners in Photoshop can you recommend?

Photoshop for drawing ui is an overkill.
There are specialized tools, such as figma.

You don't need Photoshop to make a simple engineering design.
Start by building on what you have actually learned to do.
Go ascending.
First available standard interface elements.
Basic layouts.

More complicated things when you put them in these typical layouts each other turns out to be cooler chips.

Start following the principles of material design. The main thing is to feel the magic of an empty space. When due to indentation and recommended typography (type size and line spacing), a decent design is obtained.
Look for ready-made elements and effects.

You can use Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma. Find libraries of blanks, and use them to create screen designs, gradually drawing out the application.
