How to correctly include js from the vendor folder?

JavaScript libraries can now be loaded into the project via composer so that you do not have to keep track of updates and dependencies yourself. But I don’t quite understand how to correctly connect / copy statics from the vendor folder to the project.
Can someone explain or better show a detailed example.
