How to correctly archive data?
There was a question about data storage. I have a server, the controller supports 8 disks there, 4 are already installed. Is it possible to collect another one next to this array, for data and backups? Or is it better to buy a NAS? Of course, I would like it to work more or less smartly. Who thinks what?

It is better to take backups to a separate device.
If you still do it on the same server, then the array is just a simple mirror so that you can get access to them even if the raid controller fails and the raid falls apart.
nearby you can collect, why not. but I agree with @Artem:
there are rare situations when the raid controller fails. I had one time that the battery ran out (!!!) and then it failed on the controller itself
