From .kmz to .3ds - there is a lot of software. Is it possible in reverse?

Only if through an intermediate format, it seems. For example, all sorts of libraries (geotools in my case) support shapefile, svg, or dxf very well (*.max can be saved in dxf, for example). The question remains - what can 3ds be converted into. If 3dmax itself is installed on the machine, then it almost certainly has automation tools (you can write a script). Libraries, at least, I did not find.
