How to connect two pairs of wireless earbuds to a laptop with Windows 10 and Bluetooth 4.0?
I want to completely get rid of the wires. I read about Bluetooth transmitters, but this is not the case. it needs to be connected by wire to the laptop, and only then to the headphones.

It's not entirely clear from your question and its title. Your laptop has a built-in BT module and you want to connect an external transmitter and use it in parallel with the first one for a second pair of headphones? This is optional (according to the standard, it is possible with one adapter), but, most likely, you will have to do it this way (it is not implemented everywhere)...
Bluetooth 4.0 Allows you in a Bluetooth piconet one master can communicate up to 7 active slaves
BT allows you to stream to multiple devices at the same time. On my own; not always and not everywhere you can use this feature. For example, my phone can transmit audio via BT to two devices at the same time. But it depends on the implementation on a particular system.

The following is written:
1. It is possible to broadcast to one headphone from the built-in module, to the second from an additional (plug-in) adapter. But for this you need to dance with a tambourine so that two audio devices work simultaneously in Win10. How to do this is shown here:

But it depends on the implementation of the sound card, not everyone has this option. And it's not entirely clear whether it will work with BT - it's not visible in the example, because. it's about 3.5 audio outputs, but I didn't check it myself.
2. In theory, there should be an opportunity to use both pairs of headphones from the built-in card. I met mentions that this is possible, but it did not work out.
3. If you go the way of an external adapter, it's better to immediately take an external adapter that supports broadcasting to several devices (multicast) - then you won't have to painfully try to start sound on the built-in and external at the same time. Adapters, for example, are:

Whether simultaneously vryat. In turn, you can switch to the ones you need in Windows.
just keep in mind that when you connect several receivers to one transmitter, you will cut the bandwidth by 2 times, respectively, bitrate, quality, all these things ...
when you connect to 2 receivers, you will have 2 audio devices in your system, so you will have to switch between them or block some then connections using VAC and others.
