How to connect Bitcoind wallet to Electrum?

I make a dumpwallet, in the resulting file I take # extended private masterkey:
I create an Electrum wallet with this key. The wallet is created, everything is ok. I send bitcoins to it, they appear, but the balance in bitcoind does not change. Does this mean that the key is not the right one or what exactly am I doing wrong?
