How to communicate over TCP using byte arrays in Android(Java)?

Good afternoon. There is a task to implement the communication of an android application with the north via the TCP protocol using byte arrays. I have never encountered TCP before and therefore a lot of questions arise. I learned to send/receive simple strings, but there are problems with byte arrays. Tell me how to implement it correctly or share a link to the manual (Russian / English). Off. The documentation has no recommendations on this. I climbed the whole Google (maybe not very well), but because I don’t really operate with concepts from this area, I can’t design a normal question.
