How to color an element in a dropdown list in hover?

There is a dropdown list.
I painted the background of the elements blue on hover and the text white. But there is an element in the span that should initially be blue. No guidance. And he does not want to turn white when hovering over the adjacent text and, accordingly, disappears behind the background. Only if hover directly on the span element works, but I need it on the entire dropdown element.

It is difficult to explain in words in the code it should be clear (see the text "here is the problem")

Instead of an asterisk, there can be a specific class and most likely it will be better, because generic selectors without experience are evil.
