How to choose hosting only for uploading files?

I have an app for iOS. And in my application I need to download files from server. Now I need to choose a hosting for downloading files. I am trying to find the best hosting for my task. I selected https://www.dreamhost.com and selected the Shared Starter plan . Will this plan work for my task? Do I need to additionally purchase an installed SSL certificate and DreamShield Protection?

For small volumes, any hosting will do. Continue towards S3, etc.
