How to choose a way to notify users about changes to the blog?

There is a blog (not on LiveJournal, not on BlogSpot, not on ...) - on your own hosting and you need to create a mechanism for notifying users about new blog entries.
Tell me what technology should be used to notify your readers about the posts.
I don't really want to use E-Mail, but if there is no other option, then it is acceptable.
RSS/Atom? I think technology is dead. But if not, it's quite an option to use them.

@Pinsky

I subscribe to the RSS of the same habr, and others that are of interest to me. Dead or not - I'm quite comfortable.

I would start using mailing lists and RSS, duplicating it in social networks. networks.
If you wrote very often, I would unsubscribe from your mailing list (only if the topics of the articles are very interesting :) Because for me, the mail client is a working tool and I have it open all the time (and I would not tolerate such a flood of letters ), and the RSS reader is an entertaining tool and I use it when I have free time.
I would not particularly count on the social. networks, because they constantly change the mechanisms for displaying posts. Thus, after a certain time, your posts may begin to disappear from the walls of your readers, and with a number of, for example, 5 thousand subscribers, you will “receive” 10-20 likes for each post.

well, also groups in vk \ facebook and auto-post there links and the name of topics,
but if there are a lot of links, then it probably won’t be convenient, it’s better to rss
