Сейчас в сторону gulp/webpack уходят все. Модно, молодежно, удобно. Благодаря Babel позволяет использовать новые крутые штуки в JS (es6).
Мы сейчас на большом ASP.NET проекте сборку всего фронтенд-хозяйства постепенно переносим на gulp/webpack
