How to check files for new ones in the launcher?

Good day everyone, please help me with checking files, I use DN (DevelNext) example, it can work on php or java, I made a launcher, how to check files using md5_hash, but then how is it better to download files from the server and how to check them? The launcher is made for minecraft.
