How to change the URL generation of Buddypress profiles?

Hello. I've been using the signup plugin for quite a while now, so there's some user base. Now installed bbpress forum and buddypress plugin for profiles. The problem is that I have a user login = his email, and buddypress generates the user profile url as /profile/mailadress-gmailcom That is, the login is used to generate it, but for me it is equal to the email. somehow not comme il faut is obtained.
After a long search for an answer, I found a thread on the bbpress forum, but for me the solutions presented there do not work.
I would like to change the url generation so that, for example, user id or just a random set of characters is used instead of mail.
