How to change the output_style in compass(sass) and what to write in the console to apply the change?

How to change output_style in compass(sass) ? I change output_style in config.rb with different options
output_style = :compressed, output_style = ":compressed", output_style = compressed, output_style = "compressed", etc. but nothing changes, I don't understand what's wrong. Please someone help me with this problem.
