How to calculate future server costs?

I've been scouring the internet and can't seem to find any information on how to calculate server costs. I believe that you need to somehow calculate the cost of servicing one user and, based on this, make a forecast for the cost of future rent. Is there any universal formula?
Calculations are approximate, for a business plan.
