How to build links to the source of an article?

Let's say I want to post an article from another site, but at the same time I want to indicate the source of the article. How to build a link for search engines so that they don't ban me for plagiarism? Should I specify nofollow or canonical?

The rel="canonical" attribute is used only in the link tag inside the head and specifies the canonical internal pages of the site. I would use links to the source without the rel attribute at all, since nofollow should be primarily used for advertising and potentially spam (for example, in comments) links, from personal experience with and without nofollow - on the ranking of the page from which outgoing links are not reflected.

nofollow enough
canonical downvote yourself

Copy-paste will not become unique text if you place a link to the source on the page.
As a result: if there are a lot of such texts, then, most likely, the site will fall under the filters, regardless of the attributes of links to sources.
