How to build a domain in the cloud?

Good day dear community!
The organization I work for has finally decided to rent a more powerful server, which is enough to virtualize and support the life of a company with 9 branches and a total of about 150 active users.
The question is as follows. Where to read something, or who knows what and faced / went through the organization of a domain network on remote servers? What are the pitfalls and what is better to read before starting this whole thing?
There is an idea about AD, but it is already definitely outdated, besides, all this was done locally. So every little thing matters. And it's not enough

Yes, not much has changed. In your case, you only need to think about how much caching AD is needed in the enterprise when the Internet goes down. How generally expedient is it to bring all this to your "cloud" can it be easier to use Windows Azure AD? As an example: https://habrahabr.ru/company/microsoft/blog/150089/
Advise, something else is difficult. You need to know the whole kitchen, how expedient it is to bring everyone to the cloud like this. The main problem is what will happen if there is no Internet.
