How to become a java programmer? (Java for beginner)

Decided to learn and become a java programmer. But while I am very confused in java abbreviations and technologies. Therefore, in order not to produce questions, I will ask everything at once:
1. What books or books are better to start learning java from? And what book to continue?
2. Are there any good video tutorials on java or courses? (For example, like Codecademy (but there is javascript) or a video like "C# Basics by A. Gudok").
3. Tasks for practice?

Well, this topic has been brought up on Habré more than once. So always use it first.
1) Horstman "Java Core" 8th ed. two volumes, Eckel "Thinking in Java" preferably in the original.
2) Video lectures, Lectures on Java , there you will look for your level.

1) No matter how old, but it is for a beginner in Habré that there are no posts, no questions with answers. There are topics where people switched from other languages to java, or the topic is too old.
2) I did not know that there is also a practical course, thanks. I have already downloaded "Java for Testers" from this teacher. But to be honest, the course is 3, he is in a hurry and chattering too much :). But in the absence of a better way, we will listen to him.

I personally started with Schildt's book "java2 in the original" and, in principle, I am satisfied. Now there is a shield on the 6th Java (gray-black cover).
But most of course advises to start with "Thinking in Java" ("Java Philosophy").

Beginner in java or beginner in programming?
If in java - I liked the book "Java: A Beginner's Guide Schildt G."
if you are just starting out in programming, I would advise you to start with c ++ or php, because in java books they like to focus on OOP, often even on Patterns, of course, these are all very important things, but they will scare away a beginner.

Beginner in programming. In the theory of OOP, I know the only thing there is practically no practice. C++ made me smile too :).
