How to back up over network "D$\folder" on a Windows client using BackUpPC on Linux Mint?

All the best!
I'm looking for a little help from smart and knowledgeable linuxoids :)
I deployed a server here, based on Linux Mint, for backups of data stored on Windows systems.
I stuck BackUpPC on it and set everything up.
Shared folders are backed up. Back up the entire disk using $.
But if I specify to reserve D$/Temp , which is lying around on the D drive, it does not rustle again.
It turns out that I either make the entire disk, or do I need to fumble folders for backup?
