How to allow only certain applications to run in Windows 7?
Setting:
Local Group Policy Editor
User Configuration
Administrative Templates
System
Run only specified Windows applications
Enable, show:
gpedit.msc
C:\windows\system32\gpedit.msc
C:\windows\system32\
C:\windows\system32
C:\windows \system32\*.*

Reboot can't run any application including gpedit.msc under any user. Already killed the system several times, restoring it from the image.

1) gpedit.msc is not an application. The application that opens this snap-in is mmc.exe.
2) As far as I remember, this policy does not specify paths to applications, but the names of executable files.
3) I doubt very much that wildcard symbols work from this policy (I have never tried it).
Try adding mmc.exe to the list - after that, the gpedit.msc snap-in should open.
When you try to start any application, you receive a message like:
Restrictions
The operation was canceled due to restrictions in force for the computer. Contact your network administrator.
