How to add localhost in linux?

Previously, I was on Windows. And in it for work, I could add a localhost.
I did it in C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts.
Is there an alternative to this on Linux?
I'm sitting under the graph. Solus distribution.
I can’t attach screenshots from under Windows, I have to imagine everything in my head.
