How to add IOS 10 support to an iOS application?

With the release of IOS 10, some applications are updated with the comment "IOS 10 support" literally the next day. Are people just compiling their applications in the new XCODE or is there some trick?

We need to build the application in xcode 8, check the performance on ios10. Make adjustments if necessary.

It is not necessary to compile anything at all. Everything can work and so, without any updates. But of course it doesn't hurt to check.
