How to add a package with your modifications to the project through bower?

Let's say there is a project for which some kind of plugin was required, which is publicly available on github and installed via bower. But in this package, the logic is not quite suitable for me, which can be changed in just three lines. How can I keep my bower connected and still make my own changes? Create your own plugin based on this?
