How to act in conjunction with MVVM & WCF?

Tell me what will be in the Model, and what will be in the ViewModel? For example, data contracts are most likely a Model, but a service contract is a whole headache, for the life of me I don’t know Model or ViewModel? On the one hand, it has such fields that are bound to the form. For example, a list of connected clients. No one except the service will be able to update them. On the other hand, I was assured elsewhere that the service contract is a pure Model. How is it right???
